It looks like Arnold Schwarzenegger is getting back into the action comedy game. The Terminator star is set to take the lead role in WHY WE’RE KILLING GUNTHER written and directed by Taran Killam.
The movie marks the Saturday Night Live star’s directorial debut and also stars Killam’s wife and How I Met Your Mother actress Cobie Smulders as well as Paul Brittain, Kumail Nanjiani, Randall Park, Ryan Gaul, and fellow SNL cast member Bobby Moynihan.
Killam will also produce alongside Kim Leadford, Ash Sarohia, and Steve Squillante. StarStream Media is set to finance.
The story follows a group of lively and unconventional international assassins who are fed up with the world’s greatest and most arrogant hitman, Gunther. They make a plan to kill him but he manages to be one step ahead of them.
Killam is currently filming Brother in Laws starring Gillian Jacobs and Bill Pullman as well as The Runaround with Kristen Schaal and J.K. Simmons. He is repped by UTA and Jordan Berkus.
Schwarzenegger recently reprised his title role in Terminator Genisys and starred in the horror Maggie with Abigail Breslin. He can be seen next in the thriller 478. He is repped by CAA and Joe Mann.
