Asa Butterfield is poised to star as the coveted lead role in MISS PEREGRINE’S HOME FOR PECULIAR CHILDREN. The Tim Burton helmed adaptation of Ransom Riggs’ hit novel, tells the story of a teen who seeks the truth about his grandfather’s past following his mysterious death. If accepted, Butterfield will play the lead, sixteen year-old Jacob Portman, who comes to protect a group of super-powered orphans at a secret school from supernatural creatures wishing to destroy them. Butterfield will be joining Eva Green, who is starring as the titular Miss Peregrine. Butterfield has not yet received an official offer, however industry insiders confirm that Butterfield is Burton’s first choice to play the much sought-after role.
The seventeen year-old actor has been in high demand after gaining attention for his role in the drama “The Boy with the Striped Pajamas.” Recently, he has starred as the leading roles in the Martin Scorsese picture “Hugo” and the film adaption of “Ender’s Game” alongside Harrison Ford and Ben Kingsley. Butterfield was also recently seen in the independent drama “X+Y.” Coming next, Butterfield is playing the lead in the drama “Ten Thousand Saints” opposite Ethan Hawke, starring in the comedy “King of the Castle” and playing a pilot in the fantasy adventure “The White Circus.”
