Earn and his friends prepare for “robbin season” on Season 2 of ATLANTA, which is subtitled after the period right before Christmas in the titular city.
The new trailer for the Emmy-winning FX comedy shows Glover’s character, his burgeoning rap star cousin Paper Boi (Brian Tyree Henry), his on-again-off-again love interest Van (Zazie Beetz) and friends continuing to hustle and survive in their city, from the gritty to the absurd, from run-ins with cops to fancy business meetings to surely, shenanigans involving invisible cars and fake commercials so real they blend right into the real ones.
We’ve missed you, Atlanta.
Creator, star, writer and EP Donald Glover’s younger brother and fellow writer and executive producer Stephen Glover explained the concept of “Robbin Season” to journalists back at TCA in January.
“Robbin Season is a time in Atlanta, like right before Christmas and New Year’s,” he said. “Basically, a bunch of crime happens in the city, because everyone has their Christmas gifts, people just have more stuff and money. It’s just a time when robberies will go up. Packages will get stolen off porches, where we were shooting my neighbor got her car stolen. It’s just kind of tense and desperate times. So we kind of made that the backdrop to the season and our characters are kind of going through that same desperate kind of transition.”
Atlanta returns Thursday, March 1 at 10 p.m. ET on FX.
