Barack And Michelle Obama Announced As Keynote Speakers At SXSW

President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama will make their way down to Austin in a few weeks and deliver keynote speeches at the internationally recognized , Music, and Interactive Festival.

President Obama is set to be part of a keynote conversation on March 11 during Interactive with Editor-in-Chief of The Texas Tribune, Evan Smith. The two will discuss civic engagement in the 21st century via technology in front of some of the world’s foremost creators and early adopters.

The First Lady will deliver a keynote speech about “Let Girls Learn” during Music on March 16. The initiative aims to break barriers for the 62 million girls around the world who are not in school today with more than half of them being adolescent.

This marks the first time in ’s 30 year history that a sitting President and First Lady have participated in the event that celebrates innovative , visionary , and progressive art.

In addition to Barack and Michelle Obama, Ellen Page and Ian Daniel were also recently added to the lineup of keynote speakers for . The co-creators of the new documentary series Gaycation will discuss their careers, the equality movement and the cultural attitudes towards the LGBTQ community. They join a stellar lineup of keynote speakers that include Gale Anne Hurd, Joe Swanberg, J.J. Abrams, Jake Gyllenhaal and a host of others.
