Scottish actor Ewan McGregor is planning to stay within the Disney family. After his supporting role as Lumiere in this year’s live-action Beauty and the Beast, he’s now in talks to star in Marc Forster’s CHRISTOPHER ROBIN as the titular lead role.
If all goes well, McGregor will play an adult Christopher Robin who’s lost his sense of imagination — and therefore the 100 Acre Woods and all his friends there — and is now a businessman focused on work and success.
The character was inspired by author A.A. Milne’s own son (and will be the subject of another live-action film, Goodbye Christopher Robin, starring Domhnall Gleeson and Margot Robbie).
Hidden Figures’ Allison Schroeder is currently doing a rewrite on the script, which Alex Ross Perry originally wrote. Tom McCarthy, who recently signed up to direct another Disney film, also did a pass on the script.
Brigham Taylor is producing the film.
Beyond Beauty and the Beast, McGregor recently reprised his role from Trainspotting in T2 and currently he can be seen in the third series of the FX series Fargo. He’s represented by United Agents in the U.K. and UTA.
