It has been reported that 20th Century Fox is in early negotiations for a final six episode season of THE X-FILES. The cult series finished its original nine season run in 2002, followed by a film in 1998 and its 2008 sequel, The X-Files: I Want to Believe.
David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson have stated that they would return when the deal has been made.
The revival is speculated to close up loose ends by finishing story lines that were left open during the original storyline.
Series creator Chris Carter will return to helm the final episodes, which he will write and executive produce.
Fox has stated that they will make further announcements in May. Stay tuned.
