After acquiring a director last week and two stars this week, it looks like production is ramping up for the new AMITYVILLE reboot. “Maniac” director Franck Khalfoun is confirmed on the project while Disney’s Bella Thorne and “The Machinist’s” Jennifer Jason Leigh both sign on to star.
AMITYVILLE has dropped the found footage angle and the title that went along with it, “The Amityville Horror: The Lost Tapes.” It follows an ambitious female television news intern, on the verge of breaking the most famous haunted house case in the world, who leads a team of journalists, clergymen and paranormal researchers into an investigation of the bizarre events that occurred in the Long Island home.
Leigh will play a single mother who moves into the Amityville house with her three kids and winds up with more than she’s bargained for. Thorne has been cast as one of her kids. Thorne is a former Disney darling having starred in “Shake It Up!” and will play Adam Sandler’s daughter in this year’s comedy “Blended.” Leigh’s breakout role was as Stacy Hamilton in “Fast Times at Ridgemont High” before going on to play opposite Christian Bale in “The Machinist.”
Leigh is repped by CAA and Untitled while Thorne is with WME.
