Amma Asante has signed on to direct the upcoming drama A UNITED KINGDOM. She will direct David Oyelowo and Rosamund Pike in the film following the true story of Seretse Khama, heir to the throne of Botswana, who married an English office worker, Ruth Williams, in 1948 much to the dismay of both families and the British and South African governments. Pike would portray Williams. Guy Hibbert has written the screenplay.
Known for directing the 2013 drama Belle, Asante has written and directed the film A Way Of Life, and is set to write and direct the upcoming romance drama Where Hands Touch.
