Plot details about the movie are being kept under wraps, but the announcement comes in the wake of the rocky rollout of Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice, which marked Affleck’s debut as the Caped Crusader. Critics panned the Zack Snyder-directed comic book movie, while fans enjoyed it. Despite that, the movie has been struggling at the box office. The movie opened at over $166 million, but saw a significant drop weeks after.
Affleck’s standalone Batman film joins the slate of DC films that Warner Bros. will develop and distribute for the next 10 years, which also includes Suicide Squad, Wonder Woman, Justice League Parts 1 & 2, Aquaman, Cyborg, and The Flash.
Affleck is repped by WME.
