Production company LD Entertainment has acquired the spec THE MISERABLE ADVENTURES OF BURT SQUIRE ABOARD THE HORN HIGH YO from writer Ben Bolea. They’re producing the ambitious comedy alongside Zubick Films.
The long-titled script follows a family man who’s facing his mid-life crisis. He gets away by sailing across the Atlantic Ocean but ends up shipwrecked with a charming and unhinged sea captain.
Mickey Liddell, who’s set to produce with Pete Shilaimon, Jennifer Monroe, and Kim Zubick, compared the script to “classic 1980s buddy comedies like Planes, Trains and Automobiles and Midnight Run.” He also said they’re planning to fast-track, immediately looking to land a director and cast in order to shoot in 2017.
LD also has the awards-buzz film Jackie on their docket, plus The Zookeeper’s Wife starring Jessica Chastain set for release next year. Previously they produced period films such as Anthropoid and Risen, as well as thrillers like The Devil’s Hand.
Bolea is repped by WME and Bellevue Productions.
