Broadway performer Ben Vereen is joining Fox comedy MAKING HISTORY in a recurring role. The series stars Adam Pally, Yassir Lester, and Leighton Meester, and was created by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller.
The series follows three friends from two different centuries as they try to balance the thrill of time travel with their mundane concerns of their present-day lives. It’s described as a rollicking historical adventure and a contemporary comedy about love, friendship, and trying to fit into an increasingly complex and impersonal world.
Vereen has been cast as Dr. Theodore Anthony Cobell, a professor in the college History Department and the mentor of Chris (Lester). Cobell tries to guide Chris down the path to tenure and does not take it lightly when Chris starts neglecting his career in favor of Dan (Pally) and his time machine.
This is the second team-up between Fox and Vereen as the latter is set to appear as Dr. Everett von Scott in the TV remake of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. He is also set to co-star in Amazon’s Sneaky Pete. Vereen is best known for his work on Broadway, where he won a Tony for Pippin. He will return to the theater this fall in From Brooklyn to Broadway.
He is managed by The Cooper Company.
