Ron Howard is looking to add Ben Whishaw to the cast of IN THE HEART OF THE SEA.
If he joins the film, Whishaw would play Herman Melville, the writer of “Moby Dick”. “In the Heart of the Sea” is itself based on the novel by Nathaniel Philbrick, which centers on the twenty-one crew members of a whaling boat who resort to extreme measures in order to survive after their ship is attacked by a giant whale in 1820. Chris Hemsworth, Tom Holland, Benjamin Walker, Cillian Murphy, Brendan Gleeson and Sam Keeley are already on board (no pun intended) to star.
Paula Weinstein, Joe Roth, Will Ward and Brian Grazer will produce.
Last year Whishaw starred in “Cloud Atlas” and the James Bond pic “Skyfall”. He will next appear in Terry Gilliam’s directorial debut “The Zero Theorem”.
He is repped by CAA.
