Bill Condon will rewrite THE GREATEST SHOWMAN ON EARTH for 20th Century Fox. The musical follows the story of P.T. Barnum, a showman with a gift for hoaxing the public as he creates the three-ring circus that made him famous. Hugh Jackman is set to lead with Anne Hathaway in talks to join at one point.
Jordan Roberts (“3, 2, 1… Frankie Go Boom”) and Jenny Bicks (“What a Girl Wants”) both wrote previous drafts of the project. Michael Gracey will direct while Jackman, Laurence Mark and John Palermo produce.
Condon directed “The Fifth Estate” which is currently in theaters. He’s also written “Kinsey” and “Dreamgirls”, both of which he also directed.
He is repped by WME.
