Bill Hader has joined the cast of Fox’s BROOKLYN NINE-NINE as the precinct’s new captain, following Andre Braugher’s character’s demotion at the end of the second season. The role will reunite the comedian with his former SNL co-star Andy Samberg.
Details about Hader’s guest-starring arc are being kept under wraps, but sources say he will not be Braugher’s permanent replacement. Braugher recently garnered an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for his role as Captain Holt.
Hader was recently seen in Judd Apatow’s Trainwreck opposite Amy Schumer. The Universal pic was a box office hit, grossing $83.7 million on a $35 million budget. He has also lent his voice talents to Pixar’s Inside Out and their upcoming The Good Dinosaur.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine returns for its third season on September 27. The Good Wife‘s Archie Panjabi will also appear in the season premiere, as a police officer with eyes for Joe Lo Truglio’s Detective Boyle.
Hader is repped by UTA and Odenkirk Provissiero Entertainment.
