Isabel Croixet has landed an all-star trio for her drama THE BOOKSHOP with Patricia Clarkson, Bill Nighy, and Emily Mortimer. The project hails from A Contracorriente Films.
Based on the novel by Penelope Fitzgerald, the story is set in 1959 Britain and follows Mortimer as Florence Green, a free-spirited widow who puts grief her behind her and risks everything to open up a bookshop – the first such shop in the sleepy seaside town of Hardborough. Fighting damp, cold and considerable local apathy, she struggles to establish herself, but soon her fortunes change for the better.
In addition to directing duties, Croixet will also adapt the book to script with Adolfo Blanco, Albert Sagales, Jaume Banacolocha, and Joan Bas producing.
Clarkson was most recently seen in The Scorch Trials and will next be in Delirium. She is repped by CAA and Anonymous Content.
Nighy may be best known for his work in the Pirates Of The Caribbean franchise and the romcom Love Actually. He is repped by CAA and Markham, Froggatt, and Irwin in the UK.
Moritmer has a busy year ahead as she will be seen in Spectral, The Sense Of An Ending, and Phil. She is repped by WME, Lighthouse Management, and Independent Talent Group in the UK.
