Billy Crudup is circling a role in ALIEN: COVENANT, the next installment of Ridley Scott’s sci-fi opus. The movie is said to be part of a prequel trilogy that started with Prometheus.
Once he officially signs on, he will join Alien rookies Katherine Waterston, Demian Bichir, Danny McBride, Jussie Smollett, Amy Seimetz, Carmen Ejogo, and Callie Hernandez. Australian actor, Alex England from Gods of Egypt was also recently tapped to join the cast. Michael Fassbender is set to reprise his Prometheus role as the android, David. The film will follow the crew from the colony ship Covenant as they discover what they think is an uncharted paradise, but turns out to be a dangerous world in which David is the sole inhabitant. The 20th Century Fox big-budget pic will be produced under the Scott Free banner.
Crudup recently nabbed a SAG Award for Spotlight, which is also up for an Academy Award for Best Picture. He was also starred in The Stanford Prison Experiment. He can be seen later this year 20th Century Women, Life at these Speeds, and Youth in Oregon later this year. He was recently cast in the Pablo Larrain-directed Jackie opposite Natalie Portman. The film is slated for a 2017 release date.
