Billy Eichner, Seth Rogen Poised to Play Timon and Pumbaa in “The Lion King” for Disney, Director Jon Favreau

In an excellent bit of casting, and are nearing deals to voice Timon and Pumbaa in Jon Favreau’s , the Tracking Board has confirmed.

Timon and Pumbaa are the lovable meerkat and warthog who introduced the Swahili phrase “Hakuna Matata” into popular culture via a particularly catchy little number from the original 1994 animated movie.

Donald Glover is set as Simba, while James Earl Jones will play his father Mufasa.

Rogen and Eichner previously shared the screen in Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising, and neither is a stranger to voice work. Eichner has lent his pipes to The Angry Birds Movie and Penguins of Madagascar and Bob’s Burgers, while Rogen voices Mantis in the Kung Fu Panda franchise and counts Monsters vs. AliensHorton Hears a Who! and Sausage Party among his credits.

Eichner currently stars on Hulu’s hilarious original series Difficult People and he recently joined the cast of Ryan Murphy’s American Story. Meanwhile, Rogen will soon be seen in The Disaster Artist, which he also produced.
