The highly popular science-fiction anthology Netflix series BLACK MIRROR has tapped Oscar-winning actor Jodie Foster to helm an episode of their upcoming fourth season. Rosemarie DeWitt is slated to star in the episode.
From executive producers and showrunners Charlie Brooker and Annabel Jones, the series’ first two seasons premiered on England’s Channel 4 before making the movie to Netflix. When the streaming site gave a 12-episode order for a new season, Brooker and Jones decided to split the order into two seasons. The first six make up Season 3, which will hit Netflix on October 21 and include the likes of Bryce Dallas Howard, James Norton, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, and more.
Season 4 is expected to start production later his year and arrive on Netflix in 2017, completing the 12-episode order.
There are no details yet about the plot of Foster’s episode, but the series often deals with dark stories related to sci-fi and technology, much in the vein of a 21st-century version of The Twilight Zone.
Foster is no stranger to directing. She made her directorial debut in 1991 with Little Man Tate and has since gone on to direct other features, the most recent being this year’s Money Monster. She is repped by ICM and UTA.
DeWitt most recently appeared in the films Digging for Fire and Poltergeist. This December, she’ll appear in the awards-buzzy La La Land alongside Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling. She’s repped by CAA and Wishlab.
