Marvel is finally putting its money where its mouth is, hiring to write a BLACK WIDOW standalone movie that would star Scarlett Johansson, the Tracking Board has confirmed.

Marvel had no comment, and insiders caution that the project is merely in long-lead development and has not been greenlit yet.

Still, after years of paying lip service to the idea of a Black Widow solo movie, Marvel is finally opening up its checkbook to explore the project, which is the first step towards a movie actually happening.

Per Variety, Johansson actually met with Marvel executives, including Kevin Feige, to discuss what she’d like to see out of a Black Widow movie. It’ll be up to Schaeffer to incoporate those ideas in a way that still manages to fit into Marvel’s future plans for the MCU.

Black Widow first appeared in Iron Man 2, and will soon be seen kicking ass once again in Avengers: Infinity War. Schaeffer is represented by and , and Variety broke the news.
