Just as her new movie Blade Runner 2049 prepares to hit theaters, Mackenzie Davis has signed on to star in the supernatural film THE TURNING for Amblin Entertainment, the Tracking Board has exclusively learned.
Floria Sigismondi (The Runaways) is directing from a script by Chad and Carey Hayes. The contemporized ghost story is inspired by Henry James’ 1898 novella The Turn of the Screw. The sibling scribes know a thing or two about ghost stories, having written the two Conjuring films.
The Turning is being produced by Scott Bernstein and Roy Lee, the latter of whom executive produced both The Ring and The Grudge.
Davis is best known as the star of AMC’s hit series Halt and Catch Fire, though she also made waves with her turn in the “San Junipero” episode of Black Mirror.
With feature credits such as The Martian and Always Shine under her belt, Davis will soon be seen alongside Ryan Gosling in Blade Runner 2049, and she also stars opposite Charlize Theron in Jason Reitman’s next film Tully. Davis is represented by UTA.
