CBS has given a straight-to-series order to BLOOD AND TREASURE, a new action adventure drama which will air in Summer 2019.
The story centers on a brilliant antiquities expert and a cunning art thief who team up to catch a ruthless terrorist who funds his attacks through stolen treasure. As they crisscross the globe hunting their target, they unexpectedly find themselves in the center of a 2,000-year-old battle for the cradle of civilization.
The new series was written by Limitless duo Matt Federman & Stephen Scaia and Taylor Elmore, who also worked on the show, will serve as showrunner.
Marc Webb is directing and will also serve as an EP along with Ben Silverman and Mark Vlasic.
The new series order comes on the heels of the news that CBS is canceling Zoo, its longest-running summer scripted series, after three seasons.
The network gave two seasons to Extant, starring Halle Berry as an astronaut in a world of phantom alien pregnancies and robot children and tried their hand at BrainDead, a political comedy with an added twist – zombies in Washington DC.
Previously, CBS’ summer slate also included an adaptation of Stephen King’s Under the Dome, which also lasted three seasons, and murder mystery American Gothic, which lasted just one.
