The film is the sequel to last year’s live-action, CGI mashup hit, “The Smurfs” and already has its original cast members lined up, including Katy Perry, Sofia Vergara, Neil Patrick Harris and Fred Armisen among others. The storyline for the film is currently under wraps but it will be following the continued adventures of the blue-skinned folk.
We do know that Gleeson is set to play Victor Doyle, Patrick Winslow’s (Harris) stepfather. Smoove is coming in to lend his voice to a new Smurf character named Hackus, who has been described as “naughty”.
Gleeson, who has appeared in the “Harry Potter” films as Alistor “Mad Eye” Moody, was recently in the Ryan Reynolds-starring action thriller “Safe House”. He will also be starring in John Cusack’s “The Raven”. Smoove can be seen in the current box office leader “Think Like A Man”. He will also be lending his voice to the upcoming film “Ice AGe: Continental Drift.
