The A-list cast for Disney’s THE NUTCRACKER AND THE FOUR REALMS continues to grow as Miranda Hart becomes the latest to join the project based on the 1816 story by E.T.A. Hoffman. The film is being directed by Lasse Hallstrom with a script penned by Ashleigh Powell.
Hart joins a cast led by Mackenzie Foy as the young Clara who enters a fantasy world on Christmas Eve when her Nutcracker comes to life to battle the Mouse King. The rest of the cast includes Misty Copeland as the principal ballerina, Keira Knightley as the Sugar Plum Fairy, Morgan Freeman as Clara’s godfather, and Helen Mirren as Mother Ginger.
Hart will play a fairy named Dew Drop in what is being called a comedic and fun role in the film, which is fitting for Hart.
Mark Gordon is on board to produce with Lindy Goldstein executive producing. Sam Dickerman and Allison Erlikhman are overseeing for Disney and Sara Smith for Mark Gordon Company.
First gaining big fame in 2009 by creating, writing, and starring in her own series, Miranda, Hart became well-known Stateside when she landed a hilarious supporting role in the Melissa McCarthy film Spy. She can currently be seen in the BBC series Call the Midwife.
