Some fresh faces are making their way to BROOKLYN. Domhnall Gleeson, Jim Broadbent, Julie Walters and Emory Cohen have been cast in the Nick Hornby penned drama alongside Saoirse Ronan. Set in the early 1950s, the story centers on a young woman who is torn between her family in Ireland and the American with whom she falls in love. Ronan will lead the cast as Ellis, the young Irish woman who falls in love with Cohen’s character Tony. When she returns home to Ireland, she has to decide if she wants to go back to Tony in America or stay with Jim (played by Gleeson) in Ireland.
Breakout Irish star Gleeson is quickly becoming a hot commodity after starring opposite Rachel McAdams in the time traveling rom-com “About Time” but Harry Potter fans will remember him as ginger haired Bill Weasley in the latter Potter films. Joining him are fellow Potter cast-mates Broadbent and Walters who played Professor Slughorn and Molly Weasley, respectively. They will also appear together in “Paddington,” the live action family film about the famous teddy bear in the yellow slicker. Cohen’s breakout role was playing Debra Messing’s son on the short lived musical drama “Smash” but he’s recently gone from the small screen to the big screen with his role as AJ in 2012’s “The Place Beyond the Pines.”
