Broad Green Pictures is continuing their push into developing in-house projects, picking up John Lahr’s Tennessee Williams: Mad Pilgrimage Of The Flesh with sights to adapt. The biopic will center on the life of the famed playwright, who wrote iconic works such as A Streetcar Named Desire, Cat On A Hot Tin Roof, The Glass Menagerie, and countless others.
Williams’ plays have been performed on Broadway ever since their premieres and some have even been adapted for the screen, with the classic Marlon Brando-led A Streetcar Named Desire perhaps being the most notable.
Lahr’s biography on Williams, like the author himself, received numerous accolades including the National Book Critics Circle Award, the Sheridan Morley Prize for Theater Biography, the American Academy of Arts and Letters Award, and the Lamda Award for best gay biography.
