Bryan Cranston and Kevin Hart are circling roles in the remake of THE INTOUCHABLES at The Weinstein Company. The French original, directed by Olivier Nakache and Eric Toledano. starred Francois Cluzet and Omar Sy.
The developing project will follow the original story about the unlikely friendship between a quadriplegic aristocrat injured in a paragliding accident and a young caregiver from a poor neighborhood who ends up restoring his desire for life.
Cranston and Hart are the latest to be attached to the project. Colin Firth and Tom Shadyac were in talks to join the cast, but eventually dropped out. Shadyac was also set to direct. At one point, Paul Feig, who wrote a draft of the script, was was also attached to direct.
Cranston is fresh off of his Oscar nominated role as the blacklisted screenwriter in Trumbo. He recently lent his voice to the animated feature Kung Fu Panda 3 and can be seen as Lyndon B. Johnson in the upcoming HBO biopic All the Way. He is currently filming the comedy Why Him? with James Franco and Megan Mullally. He is repped by UTA.
Hart recently starred in Ride Along 2 with Ice Cube and can be seen this summer in the action comedy Central Intelligence with Dwayne Johnson. He will also lend his voice to the animated feature, The Secret Life of Pets. He is repped by UTA and APA.
