Bryan Fuller has been set as the showrunner for CBS’s reboot of STAR TREK on their online platform CBS All Access. This will be a homecoming for Fuller who began his career as a staff writer on the cult series.
The Trek reboot is set to premiere in 2017 as it coincides with the franchise’s 50th anniversary. Co-creator of the new series, Fuller, will executive produce alongside franchise alum Alex Kurtzman. CBS Television Studios will produce in association with Kurtzman’s Secret Hideout with CBS Studios International distributing internationally across platforms.
Fuller began his career as a staff writer on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Star Trek: Voyager, working his way up to co-writer before executive producing ABC cult series Pushing Daisies.
This is the third major gig Fuller has signed on for since ending his critically acclaimed series, Hannibal. He is also an executive producer on American Gods for Starz, an adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s novel the same name, as well as developing a reboot of 80’s anthology series Amazing Stories with Amblin TV for NBC.
