Stephenie Meyer has found her next romantic-supernatural project to bring to the big screen with Kendare Blake’s YA novel ANNA DRESSED IN BLOOD. Cameron Monaghan and Maddie Hasson are set to star.
The project centers on Cas Lowood, played by Monaghan, who has inherited an unusual vocation: He kills the dead. So did his father, until he was gruesomely murdered by a ghost he sought o kill. Now, armed with his father’s mysterious and deadly dagger, Cas travels America with his mother and their spirit-sniffing cat. They follow legends and local lore, destroy the angry dead, and keep pesky things like plans for the future and friends at bat.
Hasson will play a ghost, Anna, who has killed each and ever person who has dared to step into the deserted home she used to call home. For reasons neither can explain, the two begin to realize that in their opposite, they may have finally found the one person who can help them unravel their complicated pasts and survive their present.
Trish Sie is directing the film with a script penned by Allison Wood. Meyer will produce through her Fickle Fish Films banner along with Meghan Hibbett and The Solution Entertainment Group’s Lisa Wilson and Myles Nestel. Solution is financing and will introduce the project at Cannes while UTA Independent Film Group will rep US rights and handle packaging.
Monaghan is best known for his work on the Showtime series Shameless and his recurring role on Fox’s Gotham. He is repped by UTA and Industry Entertainment.
Hasson starred in Freeform’s series Twisted and was seen on the big screen in the Tom Hiddleston-starrer I Saw The Light. She is repped by UTA and Coast To Coast Talent Group.
