San Andreas star Carla Gugino has been tapped to co-lead Netflix’s 10-episode adaptation of THE HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE alongside Michel Huisman, the Tracking Board has confirmed. The project, which was ordered straight-to-series, is a modern-day take on Shirley Jackson’s classic 1959 novel of the same name.
A classic haunted house story that relies on terror and suspense more than outright horror, the book follows four protagonists who end up staying in the house with the leader of the group, Doctor Montague, hoping to find scientific evidence of the supernatural. No character details have been released.
This project reunites Gugino with both Netflix and Flanagan, as she recently wrapped on Flanagan’s feature adaptation of the Stephen King novel Gerald’s Game, also for the streaming site. Flanagan is now writing, directing, and exec producing the series alongside his producing partner Trevor Macy, and Amblin TV’s Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey.
Gugino’s extensive resume includes Sin City, Watchmen, San Andreas, and most recently The Space Between Us. Her television career includes Wayward Pines, Roadies, and Californication. She’s repped by CAA and Untitled Entertainment.
