Carmen Ejogo is in talks to star in the Martin Luther King Jr. biopic SELMA. The story focuses on the historic, and often violent, marches that took place in Selma, Alabama in 1965, which marked the political and emotional peak of the civil rights movement. Ejogo would play Coretta Scott King opposite David Oyelowo as MLK. Tom Wilkinson has been cast as President Lyndon B. Johnson.
Ejogo started making a name for herself with small roles in “The Brave One” and “Away We Go” but has recently garnered more attention for her role opposite Tyler Perry in “Alex Cross” and in the upcoming thriller sequel “The Purge: Anarchy.”
The project is being produced by “The Butler’s” Lee Daniels, Oprah Winfrey and Brad Pitt.
Ejogo is repped by ICM and Authentic Talent and Literary Management.
