Casey Affleck, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Michael B. Jordan are in talks to join the cast of 999 (aka TRIPLE NINE) alongside Christoph Waltz and Cate Blanchett. The story follows a group of crooked cops who plan a major heist but soon realize they’re going to need to shoot a fellow officer to get away with it. Of course, that officer just happens to be the new rookie on the force. Affleck would replace Charlie Hunnam as the lead, the rookie who’s marked for a different kind of termination on his first day. Ejiofor is up for playing a criminal who helps mastermind the heist while Jordan will play a street-wise cop who’s part of the crew.
John Hillcoat (“The Proposition”) will direct from a script he rewrote. Steve Golin, Megan Ellison, Keith Redmon and Bard Dorros will produce.
Affleck was last seen in “Ain’t Them Bodies Saints” and “Out of the Furnace.” He’ll next appear in Cristopher Nolan’s “Interstellar.” Ejiofor can still be seen in one of this year’s best films “12 Years a Slave” and will soon show up in “Z for Zachariah.” Jordan was also in one of this year’s best films, “Fruitvale Station” and will soon appear in “That Awkward Moment” and hopefully “The Fantastic Four” reboot.
