THOR: RAGNAROK may be adding Cate Blanchett who is in talks for a unspecified role. She would be joining Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston, who starred in the previous two installments, as well as Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk.
Rumors have previously circled that they may be adding comic hero “Valkyrie” to the movie. Could Blanchett be the character, also known as Burnnhilde? In the comics, Brunnhilde is the leader of a group of warrior goddesses.
Blanchett is no stranger to franchises, having appeared as Galadriel in Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings and Hobbit films. She was most recently seen in the live-action Cinderella remake from director Kenneth Branagh (director of the first Thor film). She also starred in this year’s Truth and Carol, the latter of which recently was nominated by both the SAG Awards and Golden Globes.
