CBS is jumping into the ring (well, running onto the field) of sports to develop THE WHOLE NINE with Calais Campbell, a starting defensive end for the Arizona Cardinals. The series will be inspired by his own life.
Campbell is set to executive produce the multicamera comedy, which will follow a professional football player who moves into a gated community and then his overbearing family suddenly arrives with the intention of moving in. Eric and Kim Tannenbaum and Doug Banker are going to join Campbell as exec producers.
This joins the latest in a string of series focused on the sports world. Fox’s Pitch continues to earn good reviews, as well as Survivor’s Remorse on Starz and Ballers on HBO has been renewed for a third season.
Chris Case is going to co-write the series with Derek Elliot and Jack Donaldson. He has plenty of television writing experience, including Sin City Saints, Legit, Roommates, and Reba. He also wrote the pilot for another NFL pilot at Fox last season called Havoc.
He is repped by CAA and Management 360.
