YOUNG SHELDON, the spinoff series to The Big Bang Theory, has received a series order for an unspecified number of episodes to premiere during the 2017-18 season.
The half-hour single-camera comedy will follow a nine-year-old Sheldon Cooper growing up in Texas with his family and attending high school as a child.
Jon Favreau will be directing and executive producing the first episode of the Chuck Lorre and Steve Molaro creation, which stars Iain Armitage, who currently plays Ziggy Chapman on the HBO series Big Little Lies, as Cooper. Alongside Armitage will be Zoe Perry, Lance Barber, Raegan Revord, and Montana Jordan. Jim Parsons, who plays the adult Cooper in The Big Bang Theory, will narrate the upcoming series as the same character.
Lorre, Molaro, Parsons, and Todd Spiewak will executive produce the series under Chuck Lorre Productions in Warner Bros. Television.
