Channing Tatum is set to bring some All-American flair to the cast of KINGSMAN: THE GOLDEN CIRCLE. The Matthew Vaughn-directed sequel will see Taron Egerton reprising his role as the dapper spy hero Eggsy.
Tatum announced his role in the movie via Twitter saying, “I’m about to get all up in that Golden Circle.” The poster, similar to a tweet posted by Egerton last week has the caption, “My momma always told me the British gave us Southerners our good manners.” The full details on Tatum’s character have yet to be revealed, but the movie’s story is said to follow Eggsy teaming up with the “Statesman”, the American counterpart to the “Kingsman”. Tatum’s tweet could very well be a hint to his role.
In addition to Egerton, Tatum will join a returning cast members Mark Strong and Sophie Cookson. Colin Firth and Edward Holcroft are also set to return despite their deaths in the first movie. Newcomer Pedro Pascal from Game of Thrones has signed on to join the cast while Halle Berry, Julianne Moore, and Elton John are in talks to star as well.
Tatum was recently seen in the Coen brothers’ comedy Hail Caesar!. He was part of the ensemble cast in Quentin Tarantino’s Academy Award-winning The Hateful Eight. He is currently signed on to produce and star as the title character of the highly-anticipated comic book pic, Gambit.
