With Charlize Theron on board for FAST 8, the title might as well be Fast and the Furiosa. The Mad Max: Fury Road star has officially signed on to join Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, and Jason Statham in the next installment of the wildly successful Universal franchise.
Reports say that Theron will be playing the main villain of the movie and Kristofer Hivju from Game of Thrones is set to play one of her henchmen. The story details have been kept under wraps but F. Gary Gray is set to direct the movie which is slated to open in theaters on April 14, 2017. This film will pave the way for additional Fast and Furious movies which are expected to fill seats in theaters until 2021.
Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Elsa Pataky, Lucas Black, and Kurt Russell are set to reprise their roles from the previous Fast and Furious movies.
The Academy Award-winning actress is no stranger to the world of action-packed action behind the wheel. In addition to driving a big rig in Fury Road, she also starred in the 2003 remake of The Italian Job which coincidentally was directed by Gray.
Theron can be seen next in The Huntsman: Winter’s War with Emily Blunt. She also stars in the upcoming Sean Penn-directed The Last Face opposite Javier Bardem and will star alongside James McAvoy and John Goodman in the thriller The Coldest City.
She is repped by WME.
