Charlotte Riley is the latest star to join Ron Howard’s adaptation of Nathaniel Philbrick’s novel IN THE HEART OF THE SEA.
Based on a true story, the film centers on The Essex, a whaling boat whose crew had to resort to extreme measures to survive at sea when the vessel is capsized by a massive Sperm Whale in 1820. Chris Hemsworth leads the cast as crew member Owen Chase, with Riley playing his pregnant wife Peggy. Tom Holland, Benjamin Walker, Cillian Murphy, Brendan Gleeson, Frank Dillane, Ben Whishaw, Osy Ikhile and Sam Keeley also star.
Producing are Paula Weinstein, Joe Roth, Will Ward and Brian Grazer.
English actress Riley appeared in the mini-series “The Town” and “World Without End” as well as the horror film “Entity.” She will next appear in “Edge of Tomorrow” and “Grand Street.”
