Chiwetel Ejiofor and Gwyneth Paltrow are set to star in THE SECRET IN THEIR EYES. Ejiofor will star as a former MI-5 agent who returns to Boston to join a joint task force with the FBI but is still obsessed by an unsolved murder that continues to haunt him. The project is a remake of the 2009 Foreign Language Film Oscar winning film “El Secreto de Sus Ojos” directed by Juan Jose Campanella.
Ejiofor has been getting a lot of buzz lately for his Oscar nominated role as Solomon Northup in “12 Years A Slave” but the English actor is also known for his roles in “Love Actually,” the film version of “Kinky Boots” and “American Gangster.” He is also slated to star in another crime/thriller “Triple Nine” opposite Aaron Paul and Kate Winslet, as well as sci-fi flick “Z for Zachariah” with Margot Robbie and Chris Pine. He is also rumored to be joining the next James Bond film as the franchise’s newest villain.
While Paltrow isn’t particularly known for her roles in crime/thrillers, she’s shown she can hold her own in films like “Se7en,” “A Perfect Murder” and “The Talented Mr. Ripley.” Lately, she’s spent a lot of her time playing the same role – Pepper Potts – in both the “Iron Man” franchise as well as in “The Avengers.” Her next projects find her stretching her comedic and musical muscles in the action/comedy “Mortdecai” with Johnny Depp and Olivia Munn and the musical “One Hit Wonders” where she’ll play a washed up singer trying to recapture fame along with Cameron Diaz and Reese Witherspoon.
