Chiwetel Ejiofor is nearing a deal to star opposite Benedict Cumberbatch in Marvel’s DOCTOR STRANGE.
The script, directed by Scott Derrickson and written by Jon Spaihts, follows Dr. Stephen Strange, a young, arrogant surgeon with a promising career, who loses his ability to operate after a terrible accident.
Despondent and suicidal, Dr. Strange seeks advice from a mystical being known as the Ancient One and learns that he is the newly designated Sorcerer Supreme, responsible for protecting the planet from evil. With his girlfriend Clea and his loyal assistant Wong in tow, Strange sets out to fulfill his destiny.
It is still unclear which role Ejiofor is up for however, some sources are pointing to the role of “Ancient One.”
The Oscar nominated actor is currently filming Ridley Scott’s The Martian before starting work on Billy Ray‘s The Secret in Their Eyes. He can soon be seen in John Hillcoat’s crime drama Triple Nine and his film Z for Zachariah is premiering this week at Sundance.
