Rumors abound that “12 Years a Slave’s” Chiwetel Ejiofor is in the running to become the next Bond villain. The UNTITLED JAMES BOND 24 PROJECT doesn’t have a title, let alone a plotline, but we do know that Daniel Craig, Ralph Fiennes and Ben Whishaw will be back for the Sam Mendes-helmed project.
Ejiofor’s name is on everyone’s lips after his Oscar-nominated role as Solomon Northup in “12 Years a Slave” but Ejiofor’s not resting on his laurels. He’s keeping busy with roles opposite Chris Pine and Kate Winslet in “Z for Zachary” and “Triple Nine,” respectively, as well as starring in Joe Wright’s “A Season in the Congo.”
If Ejiofor ends up cast as the villain, he’ll have some big shoes to fill following Javier Bardem and Mads Mikkelsen’s amazingly wicked performances opposite Craig. After holding his own with Benedict Cumberbatch and Michael Fassbender, Ejiofor should have no problem going toe-to-wingtip with Bond, James Bond. (You know I had to get one in there.)
Ejiofor is repped by CAA and Markham, Froggatt and Irwin.
