Actress Chloe Grace Moretz has been tapped to star in an adaptation of Emily Danforth’s coming-of-age novel THE MISEDUCATION OF CAMERON POST. The story centers on a young woman forced to go into gay conversion therapy.
Moretz will be joined by American Honey star Sasha Lane as well as and John Gallagher Jr., Forrest Goodluck, and Jennifer Ehle. Desiree Akhavan is set to direct the screenplay she adapted with Cecilia Frugiuele.
The movie will follow Cameron Post (Moretz), a 12-year-old Montana girl who is sent to live with her ultra-conservative aunt after her parents die in a crash. She develops a relationship with her best friend, who happens to be the prom queen, and is sent to a “de-gaying” camp that offers conversion therapy.
Beachside and Parkville Pictures are producing the project with Frugiuele, Michael B. Clark, Alex Turtletaub, and Jonathan Montepare signed on as producers. Akhavan will serve as an executive producer alongside Olivier Kaempfer.
Moretz can be seen in the upcoming drama Brain on Fire which premiered earlier this year at the Toronto International Film Festival. She also stars in November Criminals opposite Ansel Elgort and is currently filming the remake of Dario Argento’s Suspiria.
