Chloë Grace Moretz has been tapped to star in Broad Green Pictures’ BRAIN ON FIRE adaptation. Based on the memoir by Brain On Fire: My Month Of Madness written by Susannah Cahalan, the pic follows author and New York Post journalist Cahalan, who starts to hear voices and experience seizures, sending her down a path of insanity and a desperate search for help. Dakota Fanning was previously attached for the role, with Moretz now stepping in.
Me And Earl And The Dying Girl‘s breakout Thomas Mann will also star, along with Obvious Child‘s Jenny Slate. Charlize Theron will produce via her Denver & Delilah Films, with Foundation Features also producing.
Regarding the casting announcement, Broad Green’s Chief Creative Officer Daniel Hammond stated: “We are excited to work with this incredible group of filmmakers and actors to bring Susannah Cahalan’s life story to the big screen.”
Moretz most recently appeared opposite Denzel Washington in Sony’s action/thriller The Equalizer and lead Warner Bros.’ drama If I Stay. The Kick-Ass star will next appear alongside Theron in the Gillian Flynn-scripted thriller Dark Places and will co-lead with Jurassic World‘s burgeoning star Nick Robinson in Sony’s sci-fi adaptation The 5th Wave.
Moretz is repped by WME.
