Kick-Ass star Chloe Moretz is in talks to join Zac Efron and Seth Rogen in NEIGHBORS 2, the sequel to 2014’s surprise box-office hit. The sequel’s plot is being kept under wraps, but co-star Rose Byrne is also set to reprise her role.
With director Nicholas Stoller also returning, Universal is clearly hoping to replicate the success of the original, which grossed $269 million worldwide on a budget of $18 million. Its plot centered on a couple whose lives were turned upside down a fraternity moved next door, starting a war.
The comedic sequel is a departure for Moretz, who has leaned towards dramatic roles as of late, appearing in films such as crime-thriller The Equalizer opposite Denziel Washington and tear-jerker If I Stay, based on the young adult novel of the same name.
She can next be seen in Sony’s sci-fi adventure The 5th Wave and is in production on adaptation Brain on Fire, based on the best-selling memoir about a journalist’s descent into madness.
Neighbors 2 is set to be released May 13, 2016.
