Warner Bros. is developing a Lego Movie spin-off, LEGO BATMAN. The animated project will be directed by Chris McKay from a script written by Seth Grahame-Smith. Will Arnett will be back as the voice of Batman as will Roy Lee, Dan Lin, Phil Lord, and Christopher Miller, who will be producing the spin-off. The project is expected to come to theaters in 2017 between Ninjago and Lego Movie 2.
McKay worked as the animation supervisor and editor on the original Lego Movie and has helmed the Adult Swim animated series Robot Chicken. McKay has also been tapped to direct Lego Movie 2 as well. This project will mark Grahame-Smith’s first foray into animation, having previously penned the scripts for Tim Burton’s horror/comedy Dark Shadows and adapting his novel Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter for the screen. Next up, he’s writing the screenplay for another of his novels Pride and Prejudice and Zombies and is executive producing Ninjago.
