Chris Weitz has found his next big project. After previously taking on Star Wars solo film Rogue One, Weitz has now been hired to pen the romance-adventure THE MOUNTAIN BETWEEN US.
The film is based on the 2010 novel by Charles Martin following a man and woman who fall in love after being stranded in the wilderness after a plane crash.
J. Mills Goodloe and Scott Frank wrote previous drafts of the script when Rosamund Pike and Charlie Hunnam were attached to star. The actors have since dropped the project.
Peter Chernin and Jenno Topping are producing through Chernin Entertainment with Hany Abu-Assad attached to direct.
Weitz previously wrote this year’s live-action Cinderella as well as directing The Twilight Saga‘s second film, New Moon.
