Hostiles

Scott Cooper’s is expected to be one of the hottest acquisition titles at the Toronto International Festival, where buyers will be weighing whether to release the film this year or next.

Christian Bale is said to give an awards-worthy performance as an Army captain who’s assigned to transport an terminally ill Indian enemy (Wes Studi) back to his homeland.

Rosamund Pike co-stars alongside Ben Foster, Jesse Plemons, Rory Cochrane, Stephen Lang, Timothee Chalamet, Adam Beach, Bill Camp, Q’orianka Kilcher and Peter Mullan.

The film earned strong reviews following its world premiere at Telluride, so we’ll see if it can capitalize on that momentum with a deal in Toronto. The Best Actor race is looking a little thin this year, so perhaps Bale will be able secure a nomination with a little help from his Out of the Furnace director Scott Cooper.

Watch the trailer, and tell me this doesn’t look like Cooper’s best movie to date.
