Christian Bale Welcomes “The Deep Blue Goodbye”

The drama/thriller, set up at 20th Century Fox, centers on a Florida salvage expert McGee, searching for his ex, who goes to Grenada where he tangles with a sinister real estate developer, and falls for a mysterious woman hired to impersonate the missing girlfriend. James Mangold is on board to direct, while Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Davisson-Killoran and Amy Robinson are all set up to produce. Dennis Lehane penned the most recent draft of the adaptation of John MacDonald’s series of novels.

Bale is no stranger to playing big time creepers, having starred as the outwardly charming Patrick Bateman in “American Psycho” and Trevor Reznik in “The Machinist,” as well as playing the slimy Irving Rosenfeld in David O. Russell’s “American Hustle.” Next up, Bale is set to star in Ridley Scott’s “Exodus: Gods and Kings” and Terrence Malick’s untitled musical drama with Michael Fassbender and Ryan Gosling.
