Though producer Alison Owen’s passion project has been gestating for some time, the cast of TULIP FEVER keeps growing, Oscar winner Christoph Waltz being the most recent star to join. Set against the backdrop of the 17th Century Tulip Wars, the story centers on a married noblewoman who has an affair with an artist and switches identities with her maid to escape the wealthy merchant she married. She and her lover try to raise money together by investing what little they have in the high-stakes tulip market. Peter Chelsom is the most recent writer to have touched the screenplay with his ink. Justin Chadwick set to direct the feature.
Word on what role Waltz will play has not been released yet, but with this guy’s track record, he is sure to give a great performance. Repped by ICM, Waltz may be best known for his Oscar winning roles in “Django: Unchained” and “Inglorious Bastards.”
