British director Ciaran Foy will direct horror sequel SINISTER 2. The specific plot details are being kept quiet but the original “Sinister” centered on a true-crime writer who finds a cache of 8mm home movies films that suggest the murder he is currently researching is the work of a serial killer whose career dates back to the 1960s. So assume it’ll be something along those lines…creepy.
Foy made his feature directorial debut with 2012’s “Citadel,” which earned a BAFTA nomination for Best Feature Film. “Citadel” follows an agoraphobic father who teams up with a renegade priest to save his daughter from the clutches of a gang of twisted feral children who committed an act of violence against his family years earlier. So it seems like this project will fit right into Foy’s wheelhouse.
“Sinister” director Scott Derrickson will pen the script for the sequel with C. Robert Cargill.
Foy is repped by UTA.
