Claire Foy is in talks to star in Netflix’s period drama THE CROWN. The series, written by Peter Morgan, centers on the reign of Queen Elizabeth II from her father’s death to the present day. Stephen Daldry is directing the drama, which is Netflix’s first UK-based production. Throughout the 20-part series, at least three actresses will play the Queen with Foy expected to play the young Queen in 1952.
Foy is a mainstay of British TV, having starred in series like Little Dorrit, The Promise, and Upstairs Downstairs. She also played Kate Balfour on NBC’s pirate drama Crossbones. Her film credits include roles in Mark Waters’ Vampire Academy and Jon Stewart’s drama Rosewater. Next up, Foy is set to appear in the biopic Vivaldi.
Foy is repped by Independent Talent Group.
